Kelly
shocked me when I first met her. She was an 18-year-old girl
who wound up in the Adult Foster Care home because she had
reached the age of majority - before this she had been in the
children's foster care system. This was the first time I had
been confronted with the reality that many of the adults that
I minister to every week may have been in the system since
their youth.
Kelly
was stand-offish at first, but because I went to her home every
week, she became more and more comfortable with me. During
the times when I would speak the Word she would always ask
questions like it was the very first time that she had heard
it. Indeed it likely was.
It
was a great blessing to tell her that she was loved by Jesus
and his blood had been shed to provide forgiveness for
her sins.
