Services & Programs
The services and programs that we provide to the residents are the same services that traditional churches provide.
Weekly Worship Services
The Sharing Org provides
the residents of the care facilities with a weekly Christian
worship service. By doing this we have provided the residents with
a Church of their very own where they can worship our Lord. They
are able to remain connected to God and their Lord Jesus Christ though
regular Christian interaction.
Funeral and Memorial Services
Unfortunately we deal with
the passing of many of the residents, and we are asked to provide
memorial services. What we are finding is that there is a real need
for memorial services as many residents are not able to attend regular
funeral services. A memorial service provides closure to the residents
who have shared their lives with the deceased for (in a lot of cases)
many years.
Birthday Card Program
A simple birthday card makes
a person feel special - especially a person who is confined to his
or her home and doesn't get many, if any, visitors. This program
began as simply a "polite
gesture" but
it has become more significant as we have learned just how much these
birthday cards mean to the residents.
Christian Counseling
Some of the problems that
residents are dealing with are quite involved. The residents may
not have the chaotic busy lives that the typical person managing
a family or job may have, but they do have their own brand of chaos
all the same. Reverend John has the unique opportunity to build into
the lives of the people he ministers to and is able to pray with
them and assure them that through Christ our Lord that God most certainly
loves them.
Since the inception of the
Sharing Org in 2003 we have filled shoeboxes for Samaritan's Purse's Operation
Christmas Child. This has proven to be a great way of helping
the residents feel that thay are a part of the bigger world by doing
something that touches the lives of children in need. Early in 2007
the residents were especially thrilled when they received a letter
and picture of a couple of children from Pudukkottai India who had
received the boxes that they had filled.
The picture to the
right is of our daughter getting ready to send a shoebox in 2005.
